I used to think I was an excellent multitasker. I would pride myself on having 50 tabs open in Firefox while simultaneously chatting with 5 different people on AIM and rocking out to some Incubus. Eventually I figured out that I’d forgotten what 49 of those tabs were, I was ignoring 4 of those people, and I wasn’t even hearing the music. Read more »

I’m pretty busy these days, and working on a variety of projects, so it’s hard to keep on top of everything. I often end up with a lot of neglected items on my to do lists (so called “open loops”). I think I’ve found a solution, but I’m still working on implementing it. Read more »

I tend to overthink things a lot. That’s probably not uncommon in people with ADD. The places where I tend to get stuck are areas where there aren’t clear answers. The way I have learned to cope with this is by setting simple rules for myself that allow me to gauge a situation very quickly. Read more »

Back when I was studying psychology, I read this article about the human mind. It started out with this little anecdode that stuck in my head:
How cool it would be if at some point in the future, somebody invented a device that could hook up to our minds and store all the information we’ve accumulated so that we would never forget it? Intrigued? Well, it turns out somebody’s already invented it: a notebook.
What I love about that idea is that something as simple as a notebook can be so powerful. Read more »
